Ms. Perkins 6th Grade Counselor

Hello! My name is Kiara Perkins, and I’m thrilled to start my second year at DAEP. I’m excited to be here and look forward to making necessary, impactful changes. I previously taught special education for 5 years and taught elementary DAEP for 1 year. I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Advertising from Virginia Commonwealth University and my Master’s in School Counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I'm originally from Virginia but I have been a Houstonian for the past 10 years. In my free time, I like to cook, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
I take great pride in the connections I build with my students and the lasting relationships I maintain with their families long after they’ve moved on. I am a dedicated advocate for all my students, and my door is always open. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything.
I am looking forward to a terrific school year filled with learning, exploration, and growth!
Ms. Brooks 7th Grade Counselor

Ms. Brooks, a native of Houston, Texas, graduated from Wheatley High School in the top 10% of her class. She earned her bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and went on to receive two master's degrees from Prairie View A&M University. With 20 years of experience as a counselor, Ms. Brooks has dedicated her career to supporting students, in their academic, career, and personal/social development. As a school counselor and advocate, she believes in providing comprehensive support to help students become productive and resilient individuals. In her personal time, she enjoys reading, attending rodeos, and riding her motorcycle. She is also a proud mother and grandmother, cherishing her daughter and grandson.
Ms. Williams 8th Grade Counselor

Howdy! My name is Morgan Williams and I obtained my bachelor’s from Texas A&M University and my Master's in Counseling from University of Houston-Victoria. I started my educational journey as a middle school teacher for 5 years. However, after seeing the mental health needs in the classroom, I became passionate about advocating, educating and assisting young scholars in their mental health journeys.
A child who is mentally and emotionally healthy has a strong foundation to prevail in other aspects of life, specifically academically.
Therefore, I am excited to serve as a counselor at Secondary DAEP and collaborate with parents and staff to best meet student needs. My hope is to not only prepare them for their campuses but with life long skills to be productive in the future. As a product of Houston ISD I know that they are more than capable, and I look forward to a year of growth and success!
